Why we exist.
Medicare is one of the largest financial decisions a retiree makes, and yet most people make it under pressure. A sixty-second TV commercial, a postcard in the mail, a thirty-minute call with a high-volume agent who needs to close before lunch.
We were built to be the opposite of that. Direct to Consumer Insurance Services was founded in 2018 to give Medicare-eligible Americans a no-pressure, no-rush way to understand their options and choose a plan with confidence — guided by an actual licensed agent, not a script.
How independent changes everything.
We are not employees of any insurance carrier. We are independent agents, appointed with multiple Medicare carriers, who get paid the same regardless of which plan a client chooses. That alignment matters.
It means we have no incentive to push you toward a particular carrier's plan. We can recommend a Medicare Supplement when one fits, a Medicare Advantage plan when one fits, or simply tell you the plan you already have is the right one. Independent advice from a paid agent isn't free — but it costs you nothing. The carriers pay us directly.
The agent behind the agency.
The agency was founded by Nicholas D'Angelo, a licensed insurance broker based in Clearwater, Florida. Nicholas has been a licensed insurance agent since 2005 — over twenty years of guiding clients through Medicare and related coverage decisions, long before the agency itself existed.
Nicholas holds AHIP certification for the current plan year and is licensed in 33 states. He founded Direct to Consumer Insurance Services, LLC in 2018 to give his clients a more focused, no-pressure way to make Medicare decisions.
What started as a one-agent practice has grown — but the principle hasn't changed. Every client gets a licensed agent on the phone. Every client gets a real comparison across carriers. Every client gets an annual review during AEP, whether they ask for one or not.
